Blessed Joy was referred to the orphanage when the child’s birth mother was admitted and confined at a Center for Mental Health. Accordingly, Blessed Joy’s father is also an out-patient of the Center for Mental Health. The birth mother stowed-away and got hooked on smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, and using heavy illegal drugs. Blessed Joy was diagnosed with mild hydrocephalus, minimal ventriculomegaly, absence of septum pellucidum, agenesis of the corpus callosum and mild hearing loss in the left ear.
Blessed Joy can walk, run, and play with the other children. She can imitate gestures and actions right after observing it. She communicates by pointing and talking but some of the words are indistinct. She can stay long on her place and do her activity. She can also scribble and hold pens and crayons the proper way. She is also toilet trained, can brush her teeth and put on her clothes with less help. She has a daily maintenance of Phenobarbital granules for her seizure attacks.
