Ministry Status and Support Options
Posted on 12.09.2008 | Filed as Update
On the ministry front, we have been asked for an update on the financial status in light of our recent pleas for prayer and support. We continue to struggle, being able on a moment-by-moment basis to pay our bills and meet expenses, but always depending on God for the next day’s needs. In light of this reality, we wanted to let all of you know of several additional ways you can help us through this difficult time---and, as a matter of fact, on an ongoing basis.
1) As I noted in an update back in October, The Shepherd’s Crook is able to accept gifts in the form of stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. If you would like more information on how to do that, contact us.
2) Another way you can help, and one that you might not be aware of, is through many of the purchases you may already be making on-line. One of the easiest ways to do this is to go to http://www.goodsearch.com, enter “Shepherds Crook” under “Who do you GoodSearch for?” and then click on “GoodShop” below. A wide variety of retailers provide donations via GoodShop, such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, eBay, Gap, Home Depot, Macy’s, Old Navy, Target, Wal Mart, and many more. When you make your purchases through GoodSearch’s GoodShop feature, these retailers will contribute a percentage of the purchase directly to The Shepherd’s Crook. It is a great way for you to leverage your on-line shopping into a tangible benefit to our ministry.
3) Additionally, just using GoodSearch for your default search engine will actually result in additional donations to The Shepherd’s Crook.
4) The Shepherd’s Crook is listed as a charitable organization on eBay’s GivingWorks donation program (which is done through MissionFish), so you can also provide a donation to the ministry any time you sell something on eBay. For more information on how to use this service to benefit The Shepherd’s Crook, contact us (or go to http://www.missionfish.org).
5) And finally, as we mentioned in October, many employers provide matching gift programs to encourage their employees to get involved in charitable giving. We are already set up to receive matching gifts from GE, Liberty Mutual, Microsoft, and Wachovia. Virtually any company that does matching gifts will work with us because of our 501(c)(3) status, so please ask your company if they have a matching gift program. It’s a great way to multiply the value of your donation. If you would like more information, contact us.
